This unique aluminium manifold has been designed and manufactured by Award Cycle to provide an alternative to the stack manifolds currently on the market. The fins are not there for heat, nor for speed, just for looks!
-
Mounting Bosses: They are all 29mm (1-9/64") tall, with 7.14mm (9/32") Holes
- You can use the factory E2973 1-15/16" stud
- You can also use a 1-5/8" dome head allen screw just make sure the length you use has sufficient thread engagement in the head.
- This means at least 7 full threads in iron heads, or
- 10-11 threads when in alloy heads.
- Some triumphs have shorter head studs, some may not be original, so be prepared to figure out a solution that works well for you. I cant do it for you.
-
Carb Size
- Suitable for up to 32mm Amal and Wassell Carbs wit 2" stud spacing.
- Not Suitable for the 65mm Hole Centre "Large Flange" Amal models.
-
Carb Studs or Screws: Tapped to 5/16"-18TPI
-
- You can use the standard E2962 stud which was used on 1952-1969 triumphs and has 5/16" CEI threads on the carb side, and 5/16"-18TPI threads on the manifold side. You must also use the factory S25-3 Plain Washer, and S1-51 NUT as the O/D is smaller than off the shelf parts. Some Nuts may not allow a fill rotation of the spanner (same with stock parts!)
- Alternatively you can use 20mm (1-13/16") long Domed Allen head screws if you want to get fancy and also avoid using hard to find CEI threads This is my preferred setup with some very light locking compound. ;-)

- Port Sizes: Ports on the Cylinder Head side of the manfold are 28.6mm big enough for 650cc Iron heads. 500cc head will have a step that you can port match if you wish.
- Manifold Thickness/Height: Approximately 48mm (1-29/32") the same as a stock manifold.

Gaskets?
- Use a NEW E2968 Carb insulating block....AMAL's do not like getting hot, and neither does their fuel!....seriously use a NEW block, second hand blocks bend carbs!
- Use a NEW NA43A Carb Joint washer. A light "misting" of Hylomar M Aerosol can work well on both sides of this gasket (if your carb is flat!)
Basic Stuff
- Use Nickel based anti seize compound (Loctite LB771) when using stainless screws, or studs in alloy or iron heads. You can use copper based products but Nickel is best.
- You are responsible for your threads, I'm not your mechanic. If you are changing studs and take care.
- If you are trying to install screws into threads you are not 100% on, please check the hole is not filled with decades of carbon, and that the threads are clean/undamaged.
- Your carb MUST have a flat manifold! AMAL's warp ALL the time, and 95% of people have over tightened one at some point in their lifetime....it's a guarantee! So PLEAS E PLEASE PLEASE check the carb flatness before installing so that you are not chasing air leaks.
- what if my carb flange is not flat? - Well, the body will also be bent, so no amount of sanding or milling will fix it you either have to have the body straightened by a specialist, or get a new carb. I've been guilty of this in the past and suffered an 80% throttle sticking in traffic! so please do the right thing!
- Not a mechanic, don't blame me for your Fxck ups!
- Professional Mechanic? Don't blame me for your Fxck ups OR their Fxck ups!!
- Got something you desperately want to let me know about flow, fluid dynamics, or how these will or will not affect performance? I'm really not interested in it.
- No warranties expressed of implied.
- Some fettling of the part may be required as each one comes out slightly different.
- The item is raw aluminium, you can polish, anodize, or paint just like any other LM25 grade alloy.
